MD Anderson provides cancer care at several convenient locations throughout the Greater Houston Area and collaborates with community hospitals and health systems nationwide through MD Anderson Cancer Network®.
Reporting to the Administrative Director, this position manages, administers and coordinates the daily business and patient access operations of the assigned MD Anderson center. Implements and manages best practices and implements continuous improvement processes for business and access center operations. The position serves as the primary administrative contact for a range of business service processes and programs to support the delivery of regional cancer care services.
Ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, five years of experience in healthcare/patient care or insurance field to include two years managing business office services and business operations.
SALARY RANGE $81,600 - $102,000 - $122,400
Manages and accountable for business services operations at the assigned center or centers.
Maintains clinical template oversight for all providers working in the assigned center; in coordination with Center Medical Director. Manages all business services team members related to Access, Scheduling and Financial Clearance (*indirect). Serves as customer service leader for the assigned center, championing a culture of “patient first.” Facilitates processes to enhance public and referring physician rapid access to MD Anderson services at the center. Manages all center related cost estimating, insurance authorizations, scheduling and patient access. Ensures consistent and accurate utilization of medical and financial acceptance criteria to screen and schedule appointments for new and existing patients in a way to ensure optimal efficiency in clinic operations. Ensures center has appropriate space, privacy and resources to meet regulatory guidelines while functioning efficiently and meet productivity goals and patient care needs. Participates in financial management of all patient care operations, including clinical research financial approval and reconciliation. Manages improvements in systems, processes and programs within the center to increase productivity, efficiency and cost savings.
Facilitates operational changes needed to reach organizational financial goals.
Remains aware of center billing practices, compliance, collections and reimbursement.
Participates in the center’s revenue cycle monitoring system, including the entire patient treatment cycle. Participates in the development of the center budgets in coordination with center administrative and clinical leadership and Finance personnel. Utilize electronic health record to identify appropriate metrics to report to internal and external stakeholders. Reports to maintain communication and adequate flow of information and to maintain management control. Ensures compliance in the implementation, maintenance and evaluation of evidence based business and patient access center management tools.
Participates in special projects and studies within designated timelines. Participates and/or leads continuous improvement projects designed to meet operational and patient needs. Prepares and completes special projects and system analysis. Performs project analysis and evaluates outcomes and obstacles to project completion.
Required: Bachelor's degree in related field.
