Description:
The Technical Lead’s primary function is to provide technical assistance to home builders for easy and accurate participation in the customer’s high efficiency homes incentive program. Offers timely and reliable subject matter expertise as needed to builders and the program in general. Analyzes builder’s plans and validates data accuracy of applicant submissions to ensure quality control throughout the incentive process. Compiles, reviews and analyzes data to support program deliverables and develops recommendations to help enhance program results.
  • Liaises with current and prospective program participants (home builders) to offer and respond to requests for technical consultation, and logs all communications with participants.
  • Reviews compliance reports from EPA-approved HERS software and the customer’s program database to validate and measure savings against program requirements.
  • Evaluates the energy and peak demand savings for the homes submitted to the customer’s database.
  • Analyze builder’s design and construction documents using EPA-approved HERS software and report findings.
  • Supports outreach, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration with various educational and trade organizations such as Greater Houston Homebuilders Association, RESNET, or Building Officials Association of Texas.
  • Assists with developing and presenting training to builders’ staff and HERS raters.
  • Assists with evaluating technical merits of the program’s promotional collateral and editorial content.
  • Reviews/compiles and analyzes program data to help identify trends and opportunities.
  • Monitors industry news and follows/reports on development of new and emerging technologies.
  • Assists with development of reports and other written deliverables.
  • Assists the program manager during times of peak activity to ensure deliverables and timelines are met.
Basic Qualifications
  • Associates Degree in residential building science, construction management or related technical field, with at least two years related experience or equivalent experience/combined education.
  • Knowledge of residential building science and building techniques and products.
  • Knowledge of the 2015 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC)
  • Familiarity with home energy rating, the HERS index and REM/Rate software.
  • Strong mathematical, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer and analytical skills with proficiencies in Microsoft Office and use of the internet.
Desired skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, business, engineering, architecture or related field, with at least two years related experience or equivalent experience/combined education.
  • RESNET training and certification
  • Previous experience with energy efficiency and/or utility sector.
  • Knowledge of building energy modeling using EnergyPlus or similar.
  • Report writing and proofreading.
